For fans of Robert E. Howard, David Gemmell, and Raymond E. Feist, here is the sequel to the critically praised "Demonsouled."

Mazael, now Lord of Castle Cravenlock, has subdued the demonic power within his soul, though at terrible cost to himself. Yet peace remains elusive. Mazael's former overlord plans a war of pride. A corrupt order of militant knights scheme for brutal and bloody conquest. The serpent people and their followers plot a terrible vengeance upon Mazael and his sister.

And a foe more terrible than any he has yet faced awaits.

For Mazael was not the only child of the Old Demon...

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Standing over six feet tall, Jonathan Moeller has the piercing blue eyes of a Conan of Cimmeria, the bronze-colored hair a Visigothic warrior-king, and the stern visage of a captain of men, none of which are useful in his career as a computer repairman, alas.

He has written the "Demonsouled" trilogy of sword-and-sorcery novels, and continues to write the "Ghosts" sequence about assassin and spy Caina Amalas, the "$0.99 Beginner's Guide" series of computer books, and numerous other works.

Soul of Tyrants Demonsouled Book 2 eBook Jonathan Moeller

I really like Jonathan Moeller's stories. They are well thought out and well told for the most part. Demon Souled was arguably very well written and proofread. The story was in depth and without a doubt very well thought out. I have read the entire series before posting a review so I could review the entire series instead of just one book. I will copy and paste to the other versions as well. As stated Demon Souled was well written and proofread. HOWEVER, this is the only one I can say that about. Overall I read it all and was able to delve into the story, however the poor proofreading and grammar in some situations caused an interruption in the story. As I was reading I would stop confused and then realize he mistyped something or used the wrong word as a typo. Something proofreading his work would have corrected. His repetition often caused me to skip chapters at a time for details I got tired of reading again and again, just to get back to the story. It felt like filler material. I still give him four stars simply because if you get around those negative aspects of the books. The story is unique and compelling. Jonathan himself seems to be a great individual as he answered questions from me as I was reading the books. I pride myself on honesty and it actually hurts me to write anything negative about his stories as I do enjoy them.

Soul of Tyrants Demonsouled Book 2 eBook Jonathan Moeller Reviews

Lord Mazael has never had an easy life as being demo souled and fighting against it causes nothing but misery. He has lost most everything he loves in the world but still fights for his people and their safety. An adventure that enthralls the reader and draws you into the drama. Books that are hard to put down once you start reading them because of all the tricks and turns in the adventure. I enjoy this author very much and look forward to reading more of this saga.
This is very good Sword & Sorcery - no long philosophizing about the meaning of life but good character development (the hero is growing up and is trying to live with his demonic origin), action is great, well thought through and speedy, friends are faithful, sorcerers and demons are very evil but at the end vanquished, and his love life is better forgotten (one feels sorry for him at the end). The book is better than the first one in this series (which was already fun to read) and I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
I noticed that there is a trend in ebooks to release draft versions but charge us for them. It's getting a bit old. This book is no exception. I have found numerous errors. Obviously, spell check was working, but it does not appear that an actual person read this book to check for grammatical errors or incorrect word use. The story is a good story. But why would you release a book that is still a draft copy and charge the public money for it? Is this what we've come to?
I enjoyed the first demonsouled book. The internal conflict of the main character, and his mixed heritage was something that really made the character interesting. Almost an Anti-hero. That is lessened somewhat here, but still present, and still a nice plot device.

I loved the writing of both books, and the serpentine villains were excellent, being inspired obviously by the Old Testament Book of Genesis. They are seen here once again, and made even better. The action scenes are great as well, nicely described. The magic system was not too developed in the first book, but is delved into a lot more here. There are no long explanations on it, the author uses the actions of the characters using magic to develop the magic system in a very nice way. The story flowed logically and very well from the first book into this one.

I personally loved this book, and if you liked the first one, then you will probably love this one. I have already purchased the next book in the series.
One and two I had.......bought them in a 4 pack of the series .... I mistakenly bought this first one and the second one due to an advertisement and realized after I had downloaded them both. Sure - it says you can return them within the first "time period" and I tried for two days and kept getting an error......
BTW - the series IS excellent! I was just upset with myself for the double purchase and the difficulty I had returning the two - I still own them - was busy burying my parents to do more.....
Another great Demonsouled novel that takes up right where first novel left off. Mazael Cravenlock, now a lord, tries to keep the peace between two of the most powerful lords of the land (his liege lord, Richard Mandragon, and his original benefactor, Lord Malden Roland) while demonsouled and San-Keth snake people have their own plans for domination. Mazael must conquer these external conflicts while still resisting the call of his own demonsouled blood. Second novel continues the same tradition and style as the first novel. Mazael shows character growth with better understanding of how he must cope with being both demonsouled and a lord. Villains become stronger and their plots more intricate and diabolical. Overall this is another dark and bloody story which is pretty good if you like those types of stories. Author's website is titled "Jonathan Moeller, Pulp Writer" which gives some indication of his writing style.

This is the second book in a series. Conclusion is satisfying as a standalone novel although there are still bigger villains left to vanquish. First book in series is Demonsouled. Remaining books in series are Soul of Serpents (Demonsouled) and Soul of Dragons (Demonsouled). I will likely finish reading series but I am going to take a break before coming back to it.

Regular, but not frequent, spellcheck typos were noted. Soul of Tyrants (Demonsouled) is 5,849 locations long (excluding short excerpt at end for next book in series). Standard length novels seem to run in the 4,500 to 7,000 plus location range. Longer books, such as books in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, can range from 15,000 to 20,000 plus locations.
