theNewerYork is a series of books curated and designed to challenge the literary triumvirate novels, short-stories, and poetry. We publish new, forgotten, and weird forms of literature; short-fictions that will move you. Our book fits in your back pocket and is filled with art, illustration. typography and graphic design. The writers and editors of theNewerYork believe there are infinite ways to use language to express ourselves. We hope to build a stage for existing experimental writers, ultimately inspiring other writers and creators to explore their own boundaries.

Our alt-lit publication is entirely submissions based and funded on Kickstarter.com. In the past we have published new or overlooked literary forms such as epistolaries, users manuals, epigrams, fake reviews of fake books, fake press releases, fictional glossaries, flash-fiction, lists, literary equations, upside down stories and inside out stories. Each volume of theNewerYork contains over 30 narratives that will leave you entertained and inspired.

The contents of theNewerYork, Book II made me think and feel like I was/am alive today in 2013 even though it is almost 2014 and the book was made in 2012. It made me scared, happy, and confused about being alive right now. If you are unsure if literature can exist out side of the context of words, books, pages, and publishing companies, this book is for you.

The literature informs the art and the art does more than simply complement the lit. Alot of times the lit is the art and the art is, in itself, lit. This was a cool and "different-than-a-majority-of-literary-magazines/journals" aspect of the journal.

The final piece of short fiction ends the collection beautifully (literally) and the end editor's "letter to reader" was an absolute joy. I felt complete and (as I said) scared/confused/happy when I finished reading the book.

This little book is really neat. The writings and pictures are interesting. I like the texture of the paper and the pages smell really good.
Like the stark patterns drawn on the walls in the caves at Lascaux, the art and writing contained in the second issue of theNewerYork reveal the shaky and often bizarre Zeitgeist at the start of the 21st century. And there is probably no better example of the enduring spirit of the 1920′s Parisian Left Bank Dadaism in today's literary journals than this one, and none more likely to convey the human condition in all its kaleidoscopic and satiric splendor.
Finding the Newer York felt the same way for me when I heard Black Flag's 'Nervous Breakdown' ep in middle school. It's everything I've wanted literature to be, confrontational and poignant, with every adjective filed under 'weird', yet most importantly it's methodically proposed so when you have to flip the book over to read another piece you find yourself in another dimension... The one that you should never escape. One of these three books are usually slightly sticking out of my back pocket.
Don't be a fool and let this movement pass you by, join it.
Engaging in The NewerYork Book II is like sprinting full speed through an excellently challenging maze. I read it on a layover in an airport, and received odd looks from other travellers flipping through discounted paperbacks by best-selling authors I have never read, as I turned the thing upside down, side-to-side, and at times diagonally, to fully inhale this small gem. I hesitate to say that what I was doing was simply reading--though I was definitely doing that--as when I awoke two hours later from a consuming daze of literary exploration, I felt I had been several places all at once. This book is exciting, devastating, and exactly what the literary world needs. It is experimental but not tiresome, as is often the case with other experimental works. The breadth of the pieces included is refreshing and the unification of the parts encompasses a harmonious and strangely beautiful whole.
